Valkyria Chronicles 4 Gets New Trailer, 40 Minutes Worth of Gameplay
Valkyria Chronicles 4 is on its way to Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, continuing Valkyria Chronicles' Second Europan War. And a livestream from this morning dropped a first look at the game's combat and in-game storytelling.
The trailer and livestream, both entirely in Japanese, show that Valkyria Chronicles 4 largely follows in the same footsteps as its predecessors. The game's BLiTZ battle system returns, drawing on tactical turn-based strategy gameplay identical to previous Valkyria Chronicles releases, but this time with vastly improved graphics in the game's Canvas engine. The engine looks like it'll be dealing with quite the graphical load this time around too, with plenty of explosions and hazardous inclement weather to traverse through on the way to victory.
For more gameplay info, check out the full livestream below. The in-game footage starts at 1:45:48 and details plenty of combat, including tank combat and unit management across the battlefield in different maps and level conditions.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 is currently planned for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. The game's PlayStation 4 release is slated for March 21, 2018 in Japan as well as summer 2018 for the Japanese Nintendo Switch version. Meanwhile, its American and European releases across Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Switch are all slated for some time in 2018. Check back next year for more information on the game's western release date.
