Over the past week, AGDQ 2018 provided 155 fantastic speedruns for fans to watch for many months to come.

To celebrate another fantastic week of speedrunning, we looked back at all of the speedruns that were completed at AGDQ 2018 and picked some of our favorites—for better or worse.

Green clad elves, hunters of the night, and horrific environments have all come together to create this exciting list of grueling speedruns.

Resident Evil 7

In this speedrun, the player has to constantly be on his toes and quick to adapt to any situation that comes his way. Unlike the New Game Plus speedruns of the game, which allows players to use powerful weapons, starting a fresh new game means that the speedrunner has to conserve ammo and strategize to survive.

Arabian Nights

The amount of technical issues that happened in this game made it arguably one of the funniest speedruns at a GDQ. The speedrun was a roller coaster of emotions, as the speedrunner Kotti gave fantastic commentary throughout all of the bad moments. Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong in this speedrun.

Bloodborne

HeyZeusHeresToast started off the run very strong, bringing a sense of humor and entertainment to his commentary to liven up the sleepy audience. Even with a host of fails and unintentional deaths, the speedrunner kept his composure and made the run informative, explaining in detail what he was doing for novices.

Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! and Super Punch-Out!!

In one of the more interesting speedruns at a GDQ, this speedrunner was tasked with beating two games at the same time using a custom controller that could input actions in both games. The speedrunner needed to time his hits and pause one game in some instances to keep himself from being knocked out.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Randomizer)

In this special edition of A Link to the Past, custom-made for speedrunning, all of the items in chests were swapped, so players must act on instinct to help them get through the game as quickly as possible. You never know what you’ll find in a chest before opening it, meaning you could get something incredibly powerful early on.
