The Evil Within 2 can be fairly terrifying in its original state, with some frequent jump scares and disturbing imagery sprinkled throughout the game. Bethesda is looking to make it even scarier with the release of a new free update. Starting today, you can experience the entire game in first-person mode no matter which platform you're playing on.
If you've already started playing and you have the new update installed, all you need to do is change over to the new first-person mode in the menu. You can do this on the fly via one simple option, so if you swap over and decide seeing all the nasties up close and personal isn't for you, you can just swap back with the press of a button.
Tango Gameworks producer Shinsaku Ohara thinks that seeing everything Union has to offer "makes the scale feel even bigger than it does when you're in third-person." That makes sense, especially when you consider the sometimes claustrophobic feel it can impart to games that utilize first-person mode. The Evil Within 2 is an interesting candidate for it.
If you haven't tried out The Evil Within 2, you can pick it up on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 and try out the free trial currently available to see if it's a good fit. Just make sure you keep your wits about you. It can be downright horrifying.
