After failing to raise the funds needed for the game to become a reality when the project was launched on Fig last year, Swery announced that he would be trying once more to bring the game to fruition, this time opting for Kickstarter over Fig.Â
The Kickstarter is now live, having attracted several backers on its journey to a goal of $643,744 that needs to be raised in 38 days. This is a sight less than the $1.5 million the Fig campaign previously requested from interested patrons. It’s possible with a smaller goal and donations of over $100k already, the game may very well come to fruition.Â
The Good Life follows a young woman named Naomi from New York who makes her way to a small British town named Rainy Woods. There, the inhabitants turn into cats and dogs once a month for some strange, undisclosed reason. While in Rainy Woods, Naomi has to pay off debts she’s accumulated by taking photos as well as filing other part-time positions. The game’s described as a “daily life RPG,” so you’ll have to do a lot more than take photos and get to the bottom of why the town transforms into animals, too.
The game is currently in development for both PlayStation 4 and PC, targeting a release date in Q3 2019, if it reaches its goal. According to the Kickstarter page, the target listed is just part of what the game needs for its development costs. Hopefully the game will come to fruition this time around, as it looks like it shares the same unique charm as Swery’s other projects.Â
