Good news for Switch fans who may be frustrated by the recent lack of big games for the platform: Gamestop CEO Mike K. Mauler says that several unannounced titles coming to the Switch this year should be huge hits.

The Nintendo Switch had a great 2017 thanks to some blockbuster titles, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and Splatoon 2. Each of those games sold millions of units worldwide.

Since the start of this year, however, the flow of huge titles has slowed down significantly. In the first four months of 2018, Nintendo has released games like Kirby: Star Allies and a string of Wii U ports, such as Bayonetta 2, with other ports like Hyrule Warriors expected to release in the next few months.

Nintendo tends to reveal a game a few months before its release to build up hype. Only a handful of people actually know what Nintendo is planning— with one of those people being Mauler.

“I think, this year, when we look at the slate of titles — many of which haven’t been announced yet — this year looks also very, very strong,” Mauler said during Gamestop’s earnings call. “So, I think, at least for 2018, we’ll continue to see the strong software slate drive additional install based on the hardware and increase attach rate.”

With E3 a few months away, Nintendo could potentially be saving all these titles for a reveal in June or in a Nintendo Direct later in the year. Nintendo has confirmed that Smash Bros. and Splatoon 2 will make an appearance at E3 as esports tournaments.

Metroid Prime 4, the next Pokémon game, and a new Animal Crossing title are all rumored to be at the event, but Nintendo has not yet confirmed if that is the case.

One thing is certain, however: All eyes will be on Nintendo this June to see if the Switch can continue to offer great experiences going into the holiday season.
