Niantic has announced the next Pokémon Go Community Day a month in advance to give trainers ample amounts of time to save up enough Pokéballs to catch one of the series' most iconic Pokémon: Charmander.
The event starts at 2pm CT in North America, 10am GMT in Europe, and noon JST in the Asia Pacific region on May 19. Charmanders will spawn more frequently for three hours at these times at local community parks and centers around the world.
As well as Charmander, trainers will earn three times more Stardust, the in-game currency needed to strengthen their Pokémon, when catching pocket monsters. This counts for any Pokémon caught, not just Charmander.
With so many Charmanders available, trainers will be able to stock up on Charmander candy to try and get themselves one of the rarest and strongest Fire-type Pokémon in-game— Charizard. To get this Pokémon, trainers will need to have 25 Charmander Candy to evolve it into a Charmeleon and then another 100 more Charmander Candy to evolve Charmeleon into a Charizard.
The event will also increase the chances of finding a shiny Charmanders during the three-hour time window. Shiny Pokémon are special color variants of the original Pokémon and are some of the hardest to find in the series. Shiny Charizards are also one of the most popular Shiny types in the world, so be sure to grab yourself one while you have the chance.
