Temtem, a massive multiplayer creature-collection game inspired by the Pokémon series, has been successfully funded on Kickstarter mere days after the campaign went live.
Temtem, a massive multiplayer creature-collection game inspired by the Pokémon series, has been successfully funded on Kickstarter mere days after the campaign went live.
Crema, the developers behind the game, were originally looking for an initial $70,000 to fund Temtem for a late 2019 release on PC when they launched the Kickstarter on May 29.
With the game now funded, however, the developers hope to gain more backers moving forward to help with additional modes and options for Temtem. The next stretch goal includes a Nuzlocke mode in the game. It’s based off of a fan-made mode in Pokémon that forces a player to stop using a Pokémon if it faints, which greatly increases the difficulty of the game.
A Nintendo Switch version will come out at the same time as the PC build if the Kickstarter reaches $250,000 by the end of the campaign. An Arcade Bar and two hidden bonuses will also be unlocked if fans can raise $250,000.

When making Temtem, Crema looked at the Pokémon community to determine what features should be in the game, turning longtime fan requests into a reality. The MMO experience comes from the Pokémon community’s long-term desire for a Pokémon MMO game, for example.
Even though the game is heavily inspired by the Pokémon series, Crema isn’t working with Nintendo in any capacity. It’s unknown at this time if Nintendo might try to shut down the project if the company feels that Temtem is too much like the Pokémon games, and therefore infringing on the company’s intellectual property.
