Pokémon Go's trading and social options now available to players level 10 or higher

Pokémon Go's new trading and social features debuted yesterday with a bit of a frustrating requirement. When it was added to the game, it apparently required players to be at least level 40 to participate in trading, adding others to their friends lists, or gifting and receiving items.

It looks like Niantic seems to have reversed that decision, announcing today that trading is available to players beginning at level 10 or higher. That's way less steep of a level in the game to gate the new features behind, so trainers everywhere are likely extremely happy to hear the news. It was going to be a while before some players could get in on the fun, that's for sure.

The other restrictions we previously touched on, however, are still in place. If you're interested in trading Legendary Pokémon, Pokémon in your Pokédex, or Shiny Pokémon, you'll have to pony up 20,000 Stardust. If you don't actually have the Legendary Pokémon you want to trade in your Pokédex, you'll need to pay a whopping 1,000,000 Stardust. Any regular trades will only cost you 100 Stardust. The one gift per day per friend limit still appears to stand as well.

This was undoubtedly a quick reversal on Niantic's part, but it's understandable if it had ended up staying that way, especially given how many players have tried to cheat the system since the game made its debut. It's a lot more manageable of a limit now, however, so hopefully players don't end up taking advantage of that fact.
