PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has received a new update on the test servers today that finally gives players the ability to create custom matches at their leisure.

Players are given a wealth of customization options for each game that allows them to alter every aspect of the game. Circle behavior, item spawns, loadouts, and game types are all changeable to give PUBG players the chance to create an experience that matches their needs.

Players can choose from four differ custom match options at this time including a normal match of PUBG, zombie mode, war mode, or an esports mode which allows you to to try the game with the esports rules and settings. Matches can also be password protected to stop random players from joining your server.

The mode is still in its beta phase so PUBG Corp has advised players to expect bugs to occur during matches. The amount of custom games is also limited in order to ensure games remain stable.

The mode, however, has come with a caveat. While the current version is free to play, PUBG Corp has not ruled out making custom games a paid service in the future.

“Creating custom matches won’t have an associated cost during this phase,” PUBG Corp stated in the announcement. “However, due to the extremely large amount of resources required to allow custom games to be available to all players, we may change this in the future to ensure everything runs smoothly and the system remains sustainable long-term.”

PUBG Corp has given no indication on what this paid service will look like. Maybe it will be a one-time DLC option, individual payments per match, or even some kind of server rental model. Whatever way PUBG Corp decides to try and charge players, it will be sure to disappoint some who have been waiting a long time for these options to be publicly available.
