The Future Of Warframe’s Raids Is Uncertain

At the end of the month, Warframe’s Raids will be removed from the game. They will return at an unknown future date. Arcanes will now be obtainable from hunting Eidolons.

In a statement released on the Warframe forums, developers Digital Extremes have confirmed what many people saw coming for a while. It appears that Warframe’s two Raids, The Law of Retribution and The Jordas Precept, will be undergoing changes. As it stands, both Raids will be removed from the game at the end of this month.

One of the main reasons people run the Raids in Warframe is to hunt for Arcanes, an award that drops on successful completion of the Raid. These Arcanes can be used to buff various aspects of a Warframe’s abilities, and up to this point have only been obtainable from Warframe Raids.

All is not lost, however. The Arcanes will now be obtainable by hunting Eidolons, the massive creatures that come out at night on the Plains near Cetus. The developers have said they are making this move because hunting these massive creatures requires the same teamwork and coordination as the Raids, which is what the want to use Arcanes to reward.

It is also not exactly the end of the road for the Warframe Raids, despite their removal from the game. In the statement, community manager Megan offered a cryptic clue as to their future.

This is NOT the end to Trials. Our Designers have put in an incredible amount of blood, sweat, and tears into creating, fixing, and maintaining Trials. Not to mention the blood, sweat, and tears YOU as a Community have put into them! The upkeep of the Trials in a world where so many bigger plans are in motion are taking much needed brainpower and time.

Basically it seems like the devs have decided that while the Raids take up a lot of development time right now, there has also been too much investment, from both them and the community, to simply remove them from the game forever. They have also promised new cosmetic badges for those who have completed the Raid, as a thank you to the community for their efforts in what have been Warframe’s biggest challenges to date.
