H1Z1 is bringing its version of Battle Royale to the PlayStation 4 next month. Daybreak Games also announced that a closed beta will be coming soon.
Long before Fortnite and PUBG were around and made battle royale games popular, Daybreak Games had their own battle royale game.
H1Z1 was originally released on Steam and made up of two different modes to play; H1Z1: Just Survive and H1Z1: King of the Kill. With battle royale games being more popular than survival games, Daybreak Games dropped the King of the Kill name and simply called it H1Z1, leaving its survival mode to Just Survive.
The aspects of H1Z1 are similar to those of PUBG, as you parachute in to an area, grab weapons and gear, and fight others to stay alive. You can play solo, in a group of two, or in a team of five, and instead of an electric bubble closing in on you, you will have to deal a cloud of poisonous gas. You’ll know when to move when the sirens sound. This is all pretty standard fare and familiar to anyone who’s dabbled in this genre.

H1Z1 will be coming to the PlayStation 4 on May 22 with a closed beta that is coming soon as well. For a chance to get in on the closed beta, simply sign up at the H1Z1 website. The closed beta dates have not been announced, but with less than a month away from a release, we expect the beta to drop in the coming weeks.
H1Z1 will be free to play on the PlayStation 4 and if it is anything like the PC version, it will have micro transactions for loot. No release date has been announced for Xbox One, but fans of H1Z1 shouldn’t give up hope of it ever coming to the console.
