Tomb Raider Movie Starring Alicia Vikander To Have A Sequel

Tomb Raider's mixed reception and the fact that the video game series, with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, has come to the end of the young Lara Croft's journey seemed to be hinting at the fate of the movie franchise.

Instead, from what Deadline has learned, it looks like there's yet another Tomb Raider movie already in the making.

MGM and Warner Bros. have indeed hired Amy Jump "to write the script for the sequel," says the well-informed website.

Among Amy Jump's works, we can find Free Fire, the action drama with Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy and Armie Hammer.

Her other credits, we're told, include the Wheatley-directed Kill List, A Field In England, Sightseers, and High-Rise.

"Sources said Vikander liked what she was in Jump’s scripting," so it seems there won't be any issue in making the process to the shooting as smooth as possible.

Directed by Roar Uthaug, the original Tomb Raider movie grossed $274 million worldwide, which has apparently granted it a sequel.

As we reported last week, Eidos Montreal would be "extremely surprised" not to see more games based on the Tomb Raider brand in the future.
