A new trailer for the Pokémon: Detective Pikachu has been released. Do any new Pokémon appear in the trailer?

The marketing for Detective Pikachu has been impressive. Fans initially scoffed at the idea of a live-action Pokémon movie, yet now the film has been receiving positive buzz. From its well-received trailers, to how good the Pokémon look in the film, people are actually excited for the movie.

It also helps that people who have seen the movie early gave the film a warm reception. For example, IGN’s Terri Schwartz gave the film a glowing early response on Twitter.

The Nerdist’s Dan Casey also responded positively to the film.

With nine days left until the motion picture is officially release in the United States, a new trailer for Detective Pikachu has been released.

There a few new scenes in the trailer, like an extended scene between Psyduck and Pikachu in the car. However most of it are scenes we’ve seen in previous trailers, like Tim and Pikachu in the café.

But the most important question is if the new trailer reveals any Pokémon we haven’t seen before. So was there any new Pokémon?

It doesn’t seem that way, unfortuantely. We do, however, get a better look at Pokémon we only got the barest of glimpses in previous trailers. Pidgeot, Octillery, and Bouffalant have appeared in other trailers, yet only barely in the background. We now see them more clearly in this new trailer.

We see Pikachu ride atop of a flying Pidgeot, possibly to go fight Mewtwo above Ryme City. We see a Bouffalant attack Tim in an office building. Finally, we see an Octillery serving people in the street market towards the end of the trailer. Octillery is the big red octopus, hard to miss.

Check out our other pieces on Detective Pikachu, including where we list every Pokémon that appears in the trailers.

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu is produced in collaboration with Warner Brothers Studios, Legendary, and The Pokémon Company. It will release in the United States on May 10.
