Director for the Pokémon: Detective Pikachu has revealed how many Pokémon he thinks are in the movie.

The Detective Pikachu live-action movie went from being universally unwanted to becoming one of the best-reviewed video game based movies ever. It is currently the only video game movie with a fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The trailers for Detective Pikachu have showcase dozens of Pokémon; we list all the ones we can see in the trailers. While we all assumed that more would be appearing in the film, it seems that there wouldn’t be a considerable amount more in the movie.

In an interview with Screen Rant, the director of Detective Pikachu, Rob Letterman, has revealed how many Pokémon are in the film. According to his count, there should be 54 Pokémon in the motion picture.

Letterman admits he has lost count during production, and that there can be more Pokémon in the film. 54 is not a bad number, but compared to the over 800 Pokémon introduced in the games, it feels a little small. With that said every Pokémon looks perfect in live action; asking too much maybe too greedy.

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu releases this Friday, May 10.
