As per a new rumor, Xbox Scarlett won’t be any different, releasing its exclusive games also on Xbox One for a few years since the release in 2020.
We’re used to quite smooth generational transitions, with platform owners making sure their previous consoles don’t get left behind too soon and publishers making sure they make as much money as possible out of those huge userbases before they jump to brand new machines.
As per a new rumor, Xbox Scarlett won’t be any different, releasing its exclusive games also on Xbox One for a few years since the release in 2020. Which means that, at least for a couple of years, Scarlett won’t have any exclusive in comparison with One, and the sole noticeable difference will be in the graphics.
“At launch, we’ve heard there won’t be any “Xbox Scarlett”-exclusive games. For at least a few years, games will ship on both the Xbox One consoles and on the new Scarlett consoles, as is typically the case during a generational transition,” says a report coming from well-known friends at Windows Central.
In the meantime, for what concerns the console itself, we’ve been informed that there is a brand new OS in the making called Game Core, which is tied to the Windows Core OS now developing and that will power a new dashboard specifically tailored for Xbox Scarlett.
“We’re expecting the new Xbox consoles to come with an all-new OS, based on Windows Core OS, which we’ve been covering for some time now. Expect an all-new dashboard based on the Fluent Design System, with the speed and fluidity at the forefront,” says the report.
This detail is quite important since we learn that “the completion of Game Core” is possibly linked to the fact that Xbox Scarlett games will be developed using the same “development environment” as Xbox One. It should take a couple of years, as said, and once out it will represent the true generational leap, dev side, as it “won’t be coming to the older Xbox consoles.”
Microsoft will be at E3 2019 with a media briefing on June 9, and in that occasion, it’ll discuss 14 Xbox Game Studios first party titles, which represents the biggest lineup ever for Microsoft at the event in Los Angeles.
