Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Launch Trailer Reveals Future Free DLC, Shovel Knight Playable
A Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night launch trailer came out earlier today, and there are new promises for free DLC with a surprise new playable character.
Bloodstained is a video game produced by Koji Igarashi. Igarashi is known for his work on the Castlevania franchise. Bloodstained is a spiritual-successor to Igarashi’s Castlevania; it is a 2D, dungeon exploring action game. There are RPG elements in the game, as you level up, and you collect different weapons to help you on your quest.
The story of Bloodstained follows a woman named Miriam, who travels in 18th century London to fight against demons. Her goal is to free herself from a curse.
The game was funded on Kickstarter back in 2015. It raised 5.5 million USD, becoming one of the most financially successfully games on Kickstarter. Four years later, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has finally released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In celebration, there's a launch trailer for the game that came out today.
The trailer shows off more gameplay, as well as new modes for gamers to play. There’s also character customization.
The trailer also promises free DLC in the coming weeks. According to the trailer, there will be thirteen free DLC patches. These free DLC includes Classic Mode, Nightmare difficulty, co-op, versus mode, boss rush, and chaos mode.
The trailer ends with Shovel Knight being shown to be playable in the game. His new design in Bloodstained is bulkier than his appearance in his own game. Shovel Knight is capable of using several of the same moves as he has in his own game.
It isn’t entirely clear if Shovel Knight himself is playable, or if Miriam wears armor that makes her look like Shovel Knight. Miriam is shown turning into Shovel Knight in the trailer, though that could be a simple character switch.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows right now. The Nintendo Switch version releases on June 25.
