Strap in Gears fans, because you’re going to get a second chance to try out the game before it arrives on Sept. 10. There’s another tech test happening this weekend, July 26 to the 29, and it’s available for everyone with access to an Xbox Live Gold Membership and the Xbox Game Pass.

Players who have access to the tech test can download it right now. However, the servers do not live until 10 AM PST, on July 26. Once those doors open, eager fans can test out the franchise’s newest multiplayer modes. It’s going to feature a variety of the same ones shown in the last tech test, which are Arcade Team Deathmatch, Escalation, and King of the Hill.

The Arcade Team Deathmode is a brand new model featuring two teams, one human and one swarm. Unlike other multiplayer modes, the different characters in this mode each come with unique abilities, passives, weapons, and skillsets. It breaks up the traditional routine of players merely choosing their ideal weapon choices and then going to town on the other team. It requires players to understand who they want to play as and learn to find what playstyle they want to focus on when they play on the side.

For those who played during the previous tech test during the July 19 weekend, you have the chance to return to the current one. All of the progress you made on the game’s numerous challenges should remain the same, allowing you to complete any you were working towards finishing. Additionally, players who are in a match from 5:30 to 6:30 PM PST time on July 26 are going to unlock the Wreath Bloodspray for assisting the developers in stress-testing the game’s servers. You need to complete a single match during this frame to unlock the Wreath Bloodspray.

Make sure you have an Xbox Live Gold Membership, Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, or have pre-ordered the game to gain access to this weekend’s tech test. The servers get turned off on July 29 at 10 AM PST. Gears 5 releases for the Xbox One and PC on Sept. 10, but it releases on Sept. 6 for those with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
