No Man’s Sky is about to receive its most significant update yet with Beyond, which releases on Aug. 14. It’s going to introduce a plethora of new features and includes the addition of a 32 player multiplayer mode for friends to run around the galaxy in together. The game is on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC, but is there any potential to see the game make its way over to the Nintendo Switch?

GameInformer asked this of Sean Murray, the head of the Hello Games, the developer of No Man’s Sky.

While Murray did not provide them with a direct yes or no answer, unfortunately, it does make sense, given that the Hello Games team remain hard at work attempting to get everything ready for the Beyond launch. They’re likely going to continue to monitor the update as players jump into it, wanting to give them the best experience possible. They want the game to fare better than it did when it first launched.

“It’s super interesting,” Murray said. “I love the Switch. We’re obviously very focused on what we’re doing right now, but we have done a lot of PSVR to optimize the game. So I’d be interested to see what’s possible. But at the moment, we’re just very focused on what we’re doing right now.”

Again, this remains a non-definite yes or no answer to the question. Hello Games could decide to bring No Man’s Sky over to the Switch sometime next year, and it’d be a great addition to the console’s already impressive line-up.

For those eager to continue playing the game, make sure to check it out on Aug. 14 to check out the Beyond update. No Man’s Sky is about to receive plenty of new content, and Hello Games may benefit from their long, drawn-out game. The Beyond is free for every owner of the game.
