New Bubble Bobble Game Coming to Nintendo Switch, Introduces 4-Player Mode

The classic arcade game Bubble Bobble is making an unexpected return with a new game mode. Original Bubble Bobble developer Taito Corporation recently revealed that the series is returning with the new installment Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch.

While previous games in the series featured single and two-player modes, this new entry gets its name from the fact that it will introduce a new four-player mode. The game is set to be released in Europe on Nov. 19, 2019, and will be published by ININ Games. Meanwhile, those in the U.S. can expect the release of Bubble Bobble 4 Friends sometime in early 2020. Both physical retail and digital copies will be available. Furthermore, a collector's edition of the game will be made available by Strictly Limited Games, though the contents and price of this collector's edition have yet to be revealed.

The first Bubble Bobble was released in arcades in 1986, and the series has since seen installments on many different consoles, including NES, PlayStation Portable, and even mobile devices. Bubble Bobble 4 Friends will see the series returning to Nintendo consoles for the first time since 2009's Bubble Bobble Plus! was released on the Wii.
