Xbox Game Pass Still Willing To Ship On Other Consoles

Xbox Game Pass Still Willing To Ship On Other Consoles

A few days ago, we reported Microsoft had commented on they wanted to stop having Xbox Games Studios games go out to other consoles. We would only see future games made by the Xbox Games Studios going to Xbox consoles and Windows, never on the Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 4.

Because Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition made its way to the Switch, there's a chance this might not happen. Microsoft could still want to have the Xbox Game Pass go to other consoles, despite Xbox exclusives remaining on Xbox consoles and Windows.

The idea has been around for a while. It seems to have been put on hold at least for the time being. But the Xbox team at Gamescom appears to believe it would be great for Microsoft to bring the subscription service to the Nintendo Switch.

"You know, we would like to see Game Pass on all platforms ultimately, and I think that is a long term goal," said Ben Decker, the head of gaming services. "We don't have any specific plans today, but we would love to see Game Pass go everywhere."

So, while he mentions that the team doesn't have "any specific plans today," Decker also adds that the "long term goal" is to ship Xbox Game Pass on "all platforms." That would include the Switch, which has been in the rumors for quite a long time, and even PlayStation.

Of course, as it happened with EA Access on PS4, that'll always depend on how individual platform owners end up welcoming the initiative from Microsoft in the future.
