What Is The Gears Of War 5 Commercial Song?

Gears Of War 5 Commercial Song

As the hype train shifts into top gear for the official release of Gears 5, there's a brand new advertisement for the game. It's quite a moody piece that sees Kait Diaz, one of the main protagonists, windsurfing behind a vehicle as she barrels her way through a desolate wasteland. She takes time from this strange hobby to smash through a host of monsters that leap out at her.

It's quite impressive and sets a mood and tone for Gears 5 that seems to say that it will be a lot more serious than other of first-person shooters. It also has a brilliant rendition of a song that may sound familiar to you but just who and what is it?

I'll Name That Tune In One, Bob

The song that accompanies the new trailer is a cover version of The Chain. It is a song that was first made famous by Fleetwood Mac and in this instance is sung by former Evanescence frontwoman, Amy Lee.

The original initially released on the classic Fleetwood Mac album Rumours. An album that sold over 50,000,000 copies since it was released back in 1977, and has been covered by pretty much everyone over its 42 years in existence. Lee is the latest to give their spin on it and give the song a new coat of paint.

The significant difference between Lee's version and Fleetwood Mac is that it doesn't have that trademark guitar sound that made their version so damn good. However, that shouldn't take away from the fact that she's done a brilliant job of re-imagining The Chain.

I'll always have space in my life for the original. For a cover, this one's pretty damn good.
