As you might know, Titanfall 3 is yet to be announced, and it’s most likely not even in the making since Respawn Entertainment has three teams right now working on Medal of Honor VR, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Apex Legends.
Apex Legends is hosted in the world of Titanfall, so that same team is now busy making it bigger and bigger, and handling it as a service game with live events and more stuff like seasons and characters which will be added from time to time. The game has just reached 70 million users, so it’s unlikely that EA removes the workforce from that to focus on another story-based title.
“We really want to keep the team hyper-focused on [Apex Legends]because we see there’s so much opportunity there, so I can’t give you a sense of if and when [Titanfall 3] will come, but it’s still a great brand, and we certainly won’t forget about it down the road,” EA COO and CFO Blake Jorgensen said on the earnings call, via GameSpot.
Dragon Age 4 has instead been formally revealed with a teaser trailer at the latest The Game Awards event, but it looks like the work on that title will still take a long time before we can put our hands on the game. It seems that it won’t release before March 2022, indeed, so it’s a next-gen affair.
“You should assume that Dragon Age—it’s out there, we’ve talked about it publicly that it’s in the works—it probably comes after fiscal 22,” Jorgensen said, via VGC.
“But we typically don’t give multi-year guidance this early in the year, or multi-year guidance period, so I don’t want to start giving [fiscal] 23 guidance now that I’ve started to hint on 22, but you should assume its’s out there and plans are underway for that product.”
The game doesn’t have a title yet, so Dragon Age 4 as a title is purely speculative at this stage, but it looks like BioWare has its ideas rather clear now after a series of internal reboots at a time where it didn’t know where to bring the franchise.
