Death Stranding 2 "Would Start From Zero," Says Hideo Kojima

In an interview with Vulture, Hideo Kojima talked about the chances of Death Stranding getting a sequel sooner or later, even though he has few conditions to make it happen.

Kojima has managed to surprise fans and critics with the PS4 exclusive release in November, offering a unique take on the open-world mechanic, which led to mixed reviews contributing to an 82/100 Metascore, and those verdicts have not surprised the creator at all.

Nonetheless, the Japanese game designer and the director is aiming to do the same with his next game, whether it's Death Stranding 2 or something different. Indeed, he has shared that he "would start from zero" for a sequel.

Making a sequel to Death Stranding would easily allow Kojima to keep working with many of the Hollywood stars he has built relationships with, like Norman Reedus. With the rich universe, he has crafted for the original game. It feels like he doesn't want to have his hands tied for the future.

In an interview with The Guardian, he had revealed that he is already thinking of his next title, and that "it’s a game, but also a movie… no, I’m starting to say it! Right now, you can broadcast Esports and people watch it. What’s the next step? A creator creates a game, someone plays it, and in the future, the viewers could become creators, too."

The statement is not the only clue about what's to come for Kojima Productions, though. In another interview with BBC Newsbeat, Hideo Kojima has also shared that his studio will start making movies soon, even though not revealing if those would be live-action or CGI.
