Is it time to play ball on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch?
A Sony exclusive right now is its MLB The Show baseball simulation series, which has wowed PlayStation owners for many years. Now it’s looking to do a little bit of expansion to other game systems.
Sony, Major League Baseball, and the MLBPA have announced a multi-year extension to their current deal. With it, Sony Santa Monica will continue to develop its award-winning series for years to come. But here’s the exciting part of the agreement. Past this March’s release of MLB The Show 20 for PlayStation 4, the series will go to other platforms in 2021. (And not just PlayStation 5.)
“The historic expansion of the long-standing partnerships will bring MLB The Show, for the first time, to additional console platforms beyond PlayStation platforms as early as 2021.” However, complete details on which platforms will come “at a later date.”
The first company to be excited about the news is Microsoft. The official Xbox Twitter account responded after this announcement, noting, “No more away games.”
Nintendo of America chimed in as well, with a simple baseball emoji, pictured below.

This announcement is exciting news for sports fans, though many wonder if Sony will save some exclusive features for its PlayStation 5 version of MLB The Show when it likely debuts in 2021. All the same, the idea of playing the series on an Xbox platform — and even the Nintendo Switch — is pretty cool.
For the time being, fans can check out MLB The Show 20 when it debuts on PlayStation 4 on March 17, 2020. Check out the latest trailer below.
