Mass Effect Andromeda is bringing forward the legacy of one of the most beloved franchises ever created, one BioWare has put a lot of effort and craftmanship during the last decades. Anyway, it also has to deal with something pretty tough to face and somehow acknowledge: Mass Effect 3 endings.
Since its presentation, users have discussed and wondered about how Andromeda would have worked in relationship with Mass Effect 3 endings, anyway not finding concrete answers to their questions. Now we have something meaty for everyone asking themselves about this topic.
Eurogamer has asked BioWare’s general manager Aaron Flynn and creative director Mac Walters whether Mass Effect Andromeda would acknowledge the way users let their Mass Effect 3 experience end, at the very end of a trilogy, and they provided their answers.
It looks like there will be some form of recognizing what happened during the Mass Effect original trilogy, but the way Mass Effect 3 ended won’t have any impact on how Mass Effect Andromeda will look and feel like.
“We acknowledged it in the endings of Mass Effect 3 and I think that’s where we want to leave it for now,” Flynn said.
“We want this to be a new story and it would be very hard to say it’s a new story but also that you need to understand how [the past trilogy] ended.”
