Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel announced: first details, In-game screens and gameplay footage released

Borderlands The Pre-Sequel

2K Games has officially announced next installment in Borderlands franchise, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. The publisher confirmed that the game will be set between Borderlands and Borderlands 2 and takes place on moon and it will be about rise of Handsome Jack. There will be a total of four playable characters: “Athena, Wilhelm, Claptrap and Nisha”, details about them are listed below.

Borderlands:The Pre-sequel

Athena: This character is the tank class (referred to in-game as the Gladiator). Athena wields a shield that, while active, absorbs all frontal damage and can be thrown at the end of the move to deal double the total damage absorbed.

Athena has a Phalanx skill tree that is all about aggro, making enemies more likely to target Athena while her shield is up and making the shield more powerful.

Wilhelm: This character, the Enforcer, starts out mostly human and gets more and more cybernetic as you level up. Wilhelm appeared as a boss in Borderlands 2.

Claptrap: Yep, this is the Claptrap from Borderlands 2. He will be upgradable with ‘Fragtrap’ abilities.

Nisha: Nisha is the ‘lawbringer’ class. Unfortunately there’s not much detail on this character at present, but in Borderlands 2 her ‘Law’ pistol was a melee-booster, so it seems reasonable to assume she will be a melee focused character.

In addition to this, in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, players will be able to make use of jetpack to perform double-jump or hover move. They will also have ground pound move.

Players will also have oxygen gauge which will go down over time, however it can be refreshed with the help of pick ups or recharge points. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is due to release for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2014.
