Call of Duty: Black Ops III is the first Call of Duty game to launch on PS4 and Xbox One, after Ghosts (Infinity Ward) and Advanced Warfare (Sledgehammer Games). Going deeper into the current generation of consoles, Black Ops III seems to be the first title in the series to represent a huge technological leap in comparison with Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.
At least, this is the feeling people around the Internet are getting at the moment, posting videos and screenshots detailing the differences between the two generations of consoles. Which are obvious. As you can see from the video below, the difference is something you will notice especially in the distance, with objects and even buildings not detailing before they’re very close to the players on Xbox 360.
On Xbox One (and PS4), stuff has more details you can watch instantly, although reaching 60 frames per second as usual means giving up some particular while moving into the sceneries. Screenshots also showcase more in the detail the art direction of Treyarch on Black Ops III, noticeable especially in the Zombie experience, with a lot of scary effects and a distinct ’40 style when it comes to locations and characters.
Xbox 360 and PS3 versions only include multiplayer and the Zombie experience, so there’s no chance to make a comparison between how the campaigns look like on two different generations of consoles.
