At PlayStation 4 Reveal Event in February 2013, the most exciting and impressive announcement came from Capcom and it was their brand new IP, “Deep Down”. The small teaser trailer that was showcased by Capcom was truly next-gen.
Later on, Capcom announced that Deep Down is going to be Free-To-Play and is a PlayStation 4 exclusive title. Today, in an interview to our friend at PSLS, Capcom revealed the exact reason behind the exclusivity deal.
Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono (jokingly) stated that Deep Down is PlayStation 4 exclusive because he happened to have a PS4 dev kit on his desk. A PR person later on clarified to PSLS that it was actually Sony who approached Capcom earlier than other platform holders for Deep Down, and hence it is coming exclusively for PlayStation 4.
So there you have it folks, this is why Xbox One owners won’t be able to play Deep Down. Did Microsoft miss the trick here?
