The two things that are currently being discussed a lot about Destiny 2 PC version is “No Reason BAN” (an accusation from PC gaming community) and a clarification from Bungie that they did not issue any permanent BAN for using performance or overlaying software like Xspilt and others. However, the outrage didn’t calm down and today Bungie has once again issued a clarification but this time around they went a bit more into the details such as sharing the exact number of PC players that have been banned so far and why exactly the took the decision to ban them.
In addition to this, Bungie once again listed of Software and Programs that are not compatible with the PC version of Destiny 2. However they added a note that using these programs and software will impact the performance of Destiny 2 on PC i.e. prevent the game from working properly on PC, but Bungie will not ban or restrict players for using common third-party applications such as Discord, XSplit, OBS, RTSS or other apps.
“We have seen lots of questions about bans being issued in the PC version of Destiny 2. To provide some information, we would like to share some facts. The following is true:
- Destiny 2 cannot automatically ban you, only Bungie can ban a player after a manual investigation
- Yesterday, we banned approximately 400 players on PC
- Bans were applied to players who were using tools that pose a threat to the shared ecosystem of the game
- We did not (and will not) issue any bans for the use of overlays or performance tools, including Discord, Xsplit, OBS, RTSS, etc.
- We are overturning 4 of the bans that were issued during the PC Beta
The interesting thing that came out from today’s statement of Bungie was the admission that they have to BAN few PC players in ERROR and it has been revoked.
“Update: As part of our ban review process, we have identified a group of players who were banned in error. Those players have been unbanned. The bans were not related to the third-party applications listed above. We will continue to review the process we use to ensure a fun and fair game.”
When I read this admission of Bungie, I straightaway went to Reddit to check whether any PC player has posted an update of his ban getting overturned and thanks to my luck I found this thread by KevinDL – “Bans are being overturned. Mine was removed.”
This is what KevinDL said: “I cannot explain it, nor did they contact me in any way to inform me. I just decided to try logging in and magically it worked. I had already issued the REFUND for the purchases I made through Battle.net for the expansion + $10 worth of Silver… but my base game seems to be alright. For now anyways.”
Does this mean the outrage from PC players have started to work – Bungie is on a back foot and the accusation of “NO Reason BAN” is correct? What do you guys think? Share your opinion with us in the comment section below.
