Destiny 2 was the No. 1 digital game on the PlayStation Store last month, despite being released in the same span of a number of popular sports games.
Bungie’s FPS beat out sports titles NBA 2K18, FIFA 18, and Madden NFL 18 in the same month, according to the PlayStation Blog. Exact sales numbers were not given, but sports titles are among the top-selling titles year in and year out, so Destiny 2 did pretty well.
What might be even more impressive is that Destiny 2’s Expansion Pass was the No. 1 selling game add-on as well, meaning that a good number of those who purchased the game either bought the pass or had it included with their Digital Deluxe version of the game.
Destiny 2’s sales numbers on console bode well for the game’s release on PC, which is set for Oct. 24. It will be the series’ first entry on PC, after the original game was limited to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Destiny 2’s first expansion, The Curse of Osiris, is rumored to be released this December. A second expansion will come some time in 2018.
