Bungie announced yesterday that Trials of Osiris events would be postponed until November the 3rd. Trials is a weekend PvP event where Guardians take part in protracted battles to earn loot. The event is being postponed because of emote-glitching.
The emote at the heart of the problem is the Bureaucratic Walk. With it, players can glitch into almost any room and through walls. Players were using this to glitch into inaccessible areas of the map during Trials. So far, people have reacted about as well as you would expect, with plenty of angry threads popping up on the Bungie forums.
It is quite a long delay to deal with a glitch, but it is also impossible to know exactly what kind of process Bungie need to go through to fix it. Another factor is the upcoming PC launch of the game, which is sure to have people at Bungie quite busy. If you are waiting for Destiny 2 on PC you can preload it now.
The full statement from Bungie on the issue is below.
As a follow-up to reported incidents of emote glitching in the Crucible, we are investigating a fix that we plan to deploy during the first week of November.
In the meantime, the next two instances of Trials of the Nine will be postponed.
Please stay tuned for updates. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
At this time the next instance of Trials of the Nine is forecasted to resume on November 3, 2017.
