Common opinion is Destiny players are getting less and less with days going by and Bungie not releasing new content for the game. Anyway, according to publisher Activision, the amount of users is even increasing since the last report including data about players.
During its quarterly earning report, indeed, Activision revealed that Destiny is now being played by 30 million users. It’s 5 million users more in comparison with November 2015 and, based on intel gathered by the publisher, this increase is due to the April update.
It was also revealed that each player has an average 100 hours playtime, “remarkably strong even after the release of some competitive games in the genre”, aka The Division.
“It’s clear fans are hungry for more content than we have been able to create. That passion and loyalty from our fans is something that we don’t take for granted. Which is why we’re working side by side with Bungie to make sure that in the future, we’re able to deliver a more consistent stream of great content and drive even more engagement,” CEO Eric Hirshberg added, hinting more is on its way when it comes to Destiny DLC and Destiny 2.
The latest paid expansion for Destiny, The Taken King, was launched in September 2015.
