Dev Defends DriveClub PS4 Troubled Launch: “Had Confidence Everything Was Ready, These Issues Were Unexpected”


DriveClub launched worldwide last week however things didn’t went as planned and a nasty connectivity issue has plagued the game since launch. Today, Game Director Paul Rustchynsky has issued clarification and defended launch issues of DriveClub.


Paul stated that DriveClub beta testing went pretty smooth and none of these issues occurred and development team were confident that everything was ready.

“We ran a beta test and none of these issues occurred, we had confidence everything was ready. These issues were unexpected.”

When asked by a fan that beta testing with handful of gamers and full retail launch, there is a massive difference, Paul replied that DriveClub beta testing was done of a “Large Scale”.

“We did run large scale synthetic load tests with tens of thousands of concurrent users and the tests were successful.”

In addition to this, Paul clarified that Dynamic weather feature will be coming to DriveClub via future update, however it won’t arrive until and unless Server Issues get resolved.

“Rain, Snow, Thunder & Lightning are all coming as a future update.

Once we have the server issues resolved we’ll start to talk about future updates.”
