The FIFA game coming to Nintendo Switch is definitely FIFA 18, as confirmed by Electronic Arts’ Peter Moore in a recent interview released to GameReactor. The game was first announced at the Nintendo Switch premiere event on January 13, but the only thing we knew was that it was set to be a custom built version of the existing FIFA title.
According to Moore, this is still set to be a custom version of the FIFA franchise, specifically built to Switch’s specs and characteristics, but it is going to be based on FIFA 18 and possibly releasing in September together with PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions.
“Well, as we have said, we are custom-building a FIFA version for the Nintendo Switch. It will be FIFA 18, and it will obviously be later this year when FIFA 18 comes out,” Moore told GameReactor. He also confirmed that this is set to be “a custom built version for the Nintendo Switch from the FIFA development team in Vancouver.”
So, we have a confirm that the game is going to be developed at EA Sports Vancouver offices, too. It’s the same team working on the main FIFA series, so we’re possibly getting a properly developed FIFA title from them later this year. All we need to do now is understand what we get when it comes to that “custom built” version.
