Today, a livestream celebrating Final Fantasy’s 30 years as a series was aired right from Tokyo (Toho Cinema Roppongi Hills was the venue), and many details about the upcoming releases were revealed. Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date for Final Fantasy VII Remake yet, as it seems the game still needs time to be properly showcased and ultimately launched, but something nice happened at least.
Producer Yoshinori Kitase has just revealed a brand new visual key based on the new Final Fantasy VII title, which is indeed featuring many familiar faces and atmospheres from the original. As you can see from the artwork, it is including a panorama of the city of Midgar, together with a look at protagonist Cloud and antagonist Sephiroth.
The artwork itself seems to be very faithful to the original Final Fantasy VII, even though you should already know things will change a bit once the Remake comes out. The game is being completely reworked in order to support real-time combats and more realistic graphics, in comparison with the pixel-based visuals we’ve fallen in love with back in the days.
