Fire Emblem Warriors is on its way to Nintendo Switch and New Nintendo 3DS, and Western fans have one major feature to look forward to once the game launches. Alongside the game’s U.S. and European launch on Oct. 20, Nintendo will provide Fire Emblem Warriors fans with a free Japanese voice pack.
Initially, it was unclear if Fire Emblem Warriors would come with a Japanese dub. By default, characters use English. But with the Japanese voice pack download, players simply have to go online and grab the Japanese voice acting from Nintendo to enjoy the game in its native language.
Alongside the free Japanese dub, three DLC packs are headed to Fire Emblem Warriors. First, the Fire Emblem Fates pack launches in Dec. 2017, pulling on characters from the game. That pack is followed by a Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon DLC offering in Feb. 2018, and a Fire Emblem Awakening download in March 2018.
According to the Fire Emblem Warriors launch trailer, each pack features three new player characters, three History scenarios to play through, new weapons and costumes to check out, and new support conversations. Each pack costs $8.99 USD, with a Season Pass available $19.99 USD.
Fire Emblem Warriors merges Dynasty Warriors’ third-person melee gameplay combat with characters from the Fire Emblem series. The game features over 20 Fire Emblem characters from across the series, and with the additional DLC packs, that number balloons to over two dozen. The game originally launched in Japan on Sept. 28, where it received a 36/40 from Japanese games journalism magazine Famitsu.
