Take Two and Rockstar Games has just revealed Day One sales figure and revenue details of Grand Theft Auto V. In first 24 hours (launch day sales), GTA V generated over $800 million in revenue.
As per details revealed by Take-Two, GTA V delivered the highest first day retail sales of any title in the history of the Company and the Grand Theft Auto series.

“Beginning at midnight on Monday, consumers around the world gathered in anticipation to be among the first to experience the evolution of this remarkable series. In North America alone, more than 8,300 stores opened their doors at midnight to welcome fans whose loyalty and enthusiasm were rewarded with what The New York Times called ‘the most immersive spectacle in interactive entertainment’. We are incredibly proud of Rockstar Games’ creative achievement and could not be more pleased with the success of this launch.”
Yesterday GFK Chart Track revealed that GTA V has become fastes selling game ever in UK as it sold 1.53 million units (day one sales) and generated £65m in revenue. GTA V broke the record of Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops which sold 1.41m units and generated whooping £58m in revenue way back in November 2010.
This mean GTA V is off a flying start.
