Whether you need a Social Club account to play Grand Theft Auto V?

Question:“Do I need to sign up for with a Rockstar Games Social Club account in order to play Grand Theft Auto V?”

Answer: “You do not need a Social Club account to play Single Player in GTA V. A Social Club account is required, though, for online features such as: GTA Online, Crews, Mission Creator, Photo sharing, Song sharing.”

Phone becoming unresponsive when selecting “Internet” in GTA V

Question: I tried to select Internet on my in-game Grand Theft Auto V phone, and it became unresponsive. I can’t get phone functionality back – help!

Freeze/hang on GTA V load screen after choosing to replay a mission

Question: Grand Theft Auto V freezes on a load screen when I try to replay a mission. Is this a known issue?

Answer: This issue can occur either during a mission replay of “The Jewel Store job prep” or when retrying the mission after failing when acquiring the pest control van. A possible workaround at this stage would be avoid failing the mission at this particular point or to attempt this mission during the day, as it is possible the issue is caused by a scenario scripted to happen at night time. Problem completing Hunting 2 in GTA V

Question: I can’t figure out how to complete Hunting 2 in Grand Theft Auto V. I watched my friend do this mission and a new objective triggered after killing the elk. How come it’s different from me?

Answer: If the next objective does not seem to be triggering after killing the elk, try moving away from the elk and the re-approach the corpse. That should force the objective to trigger, and you can then send a photo to Cletus.

Inability to proceed after passing a Parachuting event

Question: I just finished a Parachuting event and the screen is stuck. How do I continue?

Answer: This issue may occur if you complete the event after failing it previously. If the button prompt is missing, simply press the A Button (Xbox 360) or X Button (PS3) to continue.

Being unable to trigger the final portion of the Merryweather Heist

Question: I can’t seem to trigger the last part of the Port of LS Heist. What do I need to do?

Answer: The last part of the Merryweather Heist will open up for play after you complete several other missions as various characters, such as The Long Stretch, Hood Safari, and the third FIB mission. In order to complete the third FIB mission, By the Book, you need to receive a phone call while playing as Michael or Trevor (not Franklin). Please switch to one of those characters and make sure that your in-game phone is not off, so you don’t miss mission-triggering notifications.

Information about character icons in Grand Theft Auto V

Question: How can I tell what mission icons to use, based on the current character I am playing? What color mission icon corresponds to each playable character in GTA V?

Answer: The colors of the map icons are as follows: green for Franklin, blue for Michael, and orange for Trevor. Icons will appear larger based on the character currently in play. For example, while playing Michael, the blue icons for missions will appear larger than the orange or green icons.

Getting stuck at the container handler in The Port Heist Setup as Trevor in GTA V

Question: When playing the mission “The Port Heist 1 – Setup”, Trevor is getting stuck at the container handler; how can I resolve this issue

Answer: This issue generally occurs when Trevor runs ahead of Floyd directly to the container handler. We recommend following behind Floyd to the container handler, as this will resolve the issue. If Trevor is currently stuck, reload your previous save game and be sure to follow behind Floyd. Freezing during GTA V Xbox 360 installation

Question: I’m trying to install the install disc and it just freezes so I can’t play. How can I fix this so I can install and play?

Answer: If you are having problems with frozen installs or error messages while the install disc in installing:

Xbox 360

  • Delete any GTA V install data that is on the Xbox 360 storage device
  • Clear the Xbox 360 Cache: System Settings->Storage->Highlight Storage Device and Press Y->Choose Clear Cache->Confirm
  • Re-attempt the installation.

If you are still experiencing the error, please try installing to a different memory device. If the problem persists for all memory devices, please try the disc in another console to confirm whether the disc or the console is the issue.

How to tell whether failed installations or crashes/freezes/glitches are caused by a bad disc or failing Xbox 360/PS3 console

Question: I am suddenly experiencing random and intermittent crashes, freezes, and crazy glitches all over the place. I have cleared my cache, deleted game data, re-downloaded the title update, tried to play without my save files, and nothing works. None of my friends’ games have these problems, so it can’t be game itself. How do I know if the problem is my disc or my console?

Answer: Rockstar games frequently read data off the disc, and the following behaviors suggest that the game cannot read the disc and there may be a problem with either the disc or the console.

Grand Theft Auto V

  • No audio
  • Cut-scenes stuttering or freezing in random locations, but only on that disc or console
  • Sound effects playing, but no dialogue audio or dialogue cutting in and out
  • Random, non-reproducible crashes and freezes that only happen when using a particular disc or console
  • Falling through the floor randomly, plummeting down underground into emptiness and then dying
  • Getting to a spot where you know there should be a cutscene, but no cutscene plays and all you can do is walk around the area
  • Generic text showing up in Xbox dashboard or PS3 XMB when viewing game icon
  • Popping in of objects in high level-of-detail environment or textures, objects being unusually slow to load in
  • PS3 beeping and turning itself off
  • Being kicked back to the PS3 XMB or Xbox 360 dashboard without warning
  • Being unable to install the game to the hard drive on 360 (stalling at the same % each time), or freezing during game data installation on the PS3.

How to change the language in Grand Theft Auto V

Question: How can I change my language in GTA V?

Answer: The language in GTA V depends on your console language setting. If your console language is not supported in GTA V you will be prompted to select a language when starting the game. If you would like to reset the language after the game has already saved it:

  • On Xbox 360: Hold LB + RB while booting the game
  • On PS3: Hold L1 + R1 while booting the game, or clear your game data (NOT save data) from the PS3 Game Data Utility in the PS3 XMB (system menu).

How to resolve Grand Theft Auto V pre-order code issues

Questions: I pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto V but I did not get a code in the box — what should I do? When I try to redeem my Grand Theft Auto V code I get an error message saying it’s invalid or already used — how can I fix this?

Answers: These codes are Sony/Microsoft tokens. We do not have access to your Xbox Live or PSN accounts so only Microsoft and Sony can check their statuses. The fastest way to find out the status of a code or receive a definite answer about why a code is showing up as invalid is to call Microsoft or Sony directly: Please Note: On PS3, the most common reason for Invalid Code messages over PSN is trying to use a code from the wrong region. For example, if you bought a US copy of the game, please redeem the code on a US account. You cannot redeem a Sony PSN code on an account from another region.
