Yesterday we heard a shocking announcement from Ubisoft, a delay in launch of their open world game “Watch Dogs” across all platforms. Fans are wondering what was the reasons behind this big delay when the game was so close to its original planned date.
Ubisoft Community Manager, Gary Steinman has confirmed via Ubi Blog that Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V was not the reason behind Watch Dogs, and development team needed few more months time period to polish the game and hence Watch Dogs release was pushed ahead.
Gary said: “We respect GTAV quite a bit. It’s an incredible game. But this decision doesn’t have anything to do with any other game. The Watch Dogs team started work a few years ago with the vision to build the first truly next-gen new IP, which is a huge undertaking.
We won’t compromise on the quality and the experience of Watch Dogs, even if it means our initial timeline proved too ambitious. Ubisoft’s long-term goal is to be the best developer of next-gen games, and this starts with Watch Dogs. That’s always been the goal, and it remains the goal to this day.”
Watch Dogs new release window is Spring 2014 for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and Xbox One.
