In the most recent Pokémon GO update, some interesting things were found; the 3D assets of Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh, and Mythical Pokémon Celebi. A Reddit user by the name of Chrales was able to work a little magic for them to reveal themselves.
As stated by Chrales, he tricked the game in to believing that his Pokédex was filled, and that he had caught Ho-Oh and Celebi. After tricking the game, he could then render the 3D assets of both Pokémon. The two assets found for Ho-Oh include the shiny version, while the one found for Celebi is a normal asset. It is still unclear when these two Pokémon will join the game, but we can at least join in the fun that we should be seeing them soon.
With Ho-Oh being a Legendary Pokémon, it’s safe to say you’ll be able to catch one after battling it in a Raid. As for Celebi, it could be different, considering that Mythical Pokémon in the game aren’t as powerful. In more recent years, they have been something given away via promo codes. It’s still unclear how Mythical Pokémon will be handled, and if you will be able to catch them after battling them in Raids. Let’s not forget that the Mythical Pokémon Mew is also still missing from the game.
With Ho-Oh and Celebi coming to Pokémon GO, one has to wonder what Niantic has planned for the rest of Gen 2. Delibird and Smeargle, for example, are also still outstanding. I’d like to see these two show up during the Christmas event. It would be the perfect time for them to be introduced. If Niantic wants to keep the Legendary hype going, they could release Ho-Oh during a Thanksgiving Event.
With Gen 3 coming in December, it would be nice to see Niantic actually finish a Generation off before introducing new Pokémon or bring in new features to the game that players have been wanting.
