Yesterday Gamefaqs user “Dominus_1” posted an image related to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, showcasing game’s total play time and other stats. According to the details in the image, Metal Gear Rising: Revengenace would only take just over 5 hours to complete.
However according to producer Atsushi Inaba, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance isn’t too short and details in the image states something else. On Twitter, Inaba stated that cut-scenes aren’t included in the total play time stats, and each chapter counts gamers fatest time.
You can check out series of tweets from Atsushi Inaba explaining all the details:
Tweet 1: It seems someone posted their MGR results screen and that people (mainly in the West) are shocked it says the clear time is 5.5hr.
Tweet 2: Here’s the truth: First of all, cutscenes ARE NOT INCLUDED in that counter.
Tweet 3: Next: For every chapter you play in the game, it ONLY COUNTS YOUR FASTEST TIME. It doesn’t track your total play time.
Tweet 4: What that means is if you replay a chapter for 10 hours, but you finally clear it in a time of 10 mins. Only 10 mins will be counted.
Tweet 5: So please don’t get fixated on that end screen Clear Time being total game time because it is not.
Tweet 6: As I said, it is not how long you’ve had the power on playing MGR, it is a record of your best efforts playing the game.
Tweet 7: We came up with this clear time counting system as a way to fairly evaluate players. It hasn’t changed since Bayonetta.
Tweet 8: However, I will say it is really disappointing that people try to use a single screen in the game to try and create negative buzz.
A review published in GamesTM states that Metal Gear Rising takes 6-8 hours to complete – VR missions not included. This may be a slightly better representation of Revengeance’s length.
