MGS V Dev Kojima vs Konami Spat Took An Ugly Turn At Game Awards, Konami Lawyers Holding Kojima Hostage

MGS V: The Phantom Pain Kojima Easter Egg

Hideo Kojima vs Konami spat took a pretty ugly turn at The Game Awards 2015. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was announced as the winner of “Best Action Adventure” Game of 2015, and Kiefer came on to the stage to accept the award in place of creator Hideo Kojima. At the acceptance speech, Kiefer announced that Hideo Kojima is watching The Game Awards 2015 and will be very proud of this moment, and then Stefanie Joosten performed a song, and Geoff Keighley said: “this is for you Hideo. She came all the way from Japan”.

Konami vs Hideo Kojima

The worst thing came from the mouth of Geoff when he publicly confirmed the spat between Hideo Kojima and Konami, and the treatment legendary Kojima is getting from Konami. Here is what Geoff said:

“As you noticed Hideo Kojima is not with us tonight, and I want to tell you a bit about that Mr Kojima has every intention of being with us tonight, but unfortunately he was informed by a lower representative of Konami recently that he would not be allowed to travel to tonight award ceremony to accept any award.” Geoff later added that this is an order from Konami to Kojima (a contract)”. This announcement received a loud boo from the audience.

Not in my dream I can think of this type of treatment to legendary Hideo Kojima. Konami really needs to learn a few important lesson of respect.
