Among all the bad news came in the last few hours for Xbox One and Windows 10, we have one interesting and rather a good tidbit coming from Microsoft about one of those games we haven’t seen around for a while. It’s Crackdown 3, which is apparently not so distant from being released for both Microsoft systems.
Commenting in an official note Scalebound’s cancellation, Microsoft said:
“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences.”
Did you notice it? Scalebound’s cancellation PR effort was kind of a confirm for Crackdown 3 to release in 2017, this year, together with other first party titles like Halo Wars 2, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves “and other great experiences” for Microsoft’s platforms.
While this shouldn’t be taken as something set in stone, especially after what happened to Scalebound, it’s, sure enough, a nice hint at Crackdown 3’s future showcase at E3 2017. Likely, we’ll learn more about how the game works (could it still be cloud based or what?) and when it releases… finally.
