A few hours ago we were reported about the upcoming Uncharted movie being written as R-rated. It looks like writer Joe Carnahan is working together with Sony but without any cooperation with Naughty Dog, which has apparently never ever read the script nor shared his vision and opinion about it. That’s not a good news, in case you’re wondering.
“No one at Naughty Dog has read the script. No idea what the movie is about let alone its tone,” Neil Druckmann, creative director and writer at the Californian software house said on Twitter when a fan asked to tone the story down as Uncharted is a “lightheaded action advert.”
Of course, the movie is still in the early stages of the development process, and the cast itself has not even been determined nor announced yet. So there’s plenty time to have Naughty Dog involved in the process, even though, once you have actors on stage, it’s basically all set and done, and the opinion of the studio itself wouldn’t be required anymore.
Hopefully, things change for better soon enough.
