The new PlayStation 4 model CUH-1200 comes with a matte finish on the hard drive cover instead of the glossy one we still have on our consoles. This new PS4 model CUH-1200 has been out for two days in Japan and finally we have some pictures, details and a video about it.
Twitter user Marine has anyway provided a few more details about the new PlayStation 4, revealing it’s not just a matter of finish:
“CUH-1200 has arrived. The difference in appearance is the matte HDD bat cover, the power and eject buttons changed to mechanical from the former electrostatic capacitor type. The LED is unconfirmed because I still didn’t power it up. It’s 10% lighter, and it does indeed feel lighter.”
“I immediately changed the HDD bay cover, because it was compatible with those of the previous model.”
“CUH-1200: The position of the ports in the back has changed. The number of screws hidden by the warranty voiding seal have also been reduced from four to two.”
“There’s an obvious difference if you remove the HDD bay cover. The size of the board is smaller.”
“The rated powerr consumption of the new PS4 has been reduced by 8% from 250W to 230W. The real power consumption has actually been reduced by 18% from 148.6W to 122W, measured in Dragon Quest Heroes. I’ll try Tomb Raider later, as it seems to have a higher power consumption.”
“Standby power consumption while downloading is 58W, because it’s not performed by the secondary processor, but by the APU as usual.”
