Sometimes the best-selling product on Thanksgiving weekend isn’t even on sale. Throughout Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, the Nintendo Switch became the internet’s best-selling purchase, pointing to a successful holiday season ahead for Nintendo, Markets Insider reports.
Retailing for $299.99 across online retailers, Adobe’s Digital Insights Initiatives reveals that the Nintendo Switch became Black Friday 2017’s best-selling product online throughout all online retailers’ available product sections. Yes, that means the Switch outranked deals on both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One X. Bear in mind that the PlayStation 4 just had its most successful Black Friday yet for selling consoles, so it’s safe to say the Switch is selling at some incredibly successful numbers for its first year.
As a result, Nintendo’s stock is up 88.85 percent for the year, reflecting some high confidence in the Japanese gaming giant from the market. But the Switch’s success may spell bad news for gamers on a budget. As the Nintendo Switch is selling well even though it isn’t being sold on a discount, it seems unlikely that the Switch will receive any serious deals in the coming months ahead. Expect to pay at least $300 to start gaming on the Switch, not including any purchases for new games.
