Nioh offers quite a lot of choices when it comes to its graphics rendition, on both PS4 and PS4 Pro. As you might recall, the new souls like from Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo has three different visual modes: Action, Movie, and Variable. Digital Foundry has analyzed all of them in order to let us see which is the best mode for our gamers’ need.
From this analysis, which you can further check the attached video, on PS4 Pro Action Mode supports a variable resolution, ranging from 1080p to 720p. Movie Mode, instead, has a resolution that gets as high as 2160p and as low as 1440p. Variable Mode drops to 2304×1296.
With the standard PS4, Action Mode mostly means a resolution of 720p, with jumps as high as 1728×972. Movie Mode is a steady 1080p, while Variable Mode on PS4 was not mentioned in the report. Action Mode is told to “make for a better playing game” and on PS4 gives “a level of performance very close to that of the PS4 Pro,” says Digital Foundry.
