Mario and Nintendo fans, we have a disappointing news for all of you. Nintendo of America’s director of product marketing has officially confirmed that there won’t be any new Mario Game (no new main entry in Mario video game franchise) in 2015.
The details were confirmed by Bill Trinen in a recent interview to our friend at Reno Gazette-Journal. Bill Trinen said:
“We don’t always put out a new version of an existing series on an annual basis, there’s always a big gap. You see that with Super Smash Bros., which has been seven years since it last came out. With Pikmin 3, you saw a big gap as well. Mario games release more frequently but we don’t have a new Mario game this year so it’s not an annual event.”
This news did come as a surprise because back in April 2014, Nintendo Producer Yoshiaki Koizumi announced that Nintendo EAD, developers of Super Mario 3D World, are working on a brand new installment n main Mario video game franchise.
Fans shouldn’t get entirely disappointed as LittleBigPlanet-esque Mario Maker is set to launch in early 2015. This Mario Maker will allow player to create their own levels in the style of the classic NES 2D platforming series.
