Sony seems to have started a trend for themselves to sit out of GamesCom event. What exactly is the reason behind this approach? What I can make out from their approach is that they want to make their presence felt at the biggest gaming event of the year i.e. E3 with the reveal of big first and third-party PlayStation exclusive games and let players enjoy the hype and then move forward with a slightly low-key presser before the start of all important Holiday Season at Paris Games Week and then up the ante with another E3 level presser at PlayStation Experience before Christmas.
However, it seems like this year’s Paris Games Week 2017 press conference is going to be the best one as Sony has officially confirmed that they are going to reveal not ONE, not TWO, not THREE, but a total of 7 new games for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR. In a post on official PlayStation Blog, SIEA Director Sid Shuman said:
“This Monday, October 30, PlayStation’s Paris Games Week Media Showcase will begin at 9:00 am Pacific Time. But plan to tune in early at 8:00 am! We’ll begin with an introductory live stream featuring 21 game updates, including seven all-new game announcements for PS4 and PS VR. You won’t want to miss it.”
Now – PlayStation community won’t have to get too hype for the event just by seeing the number 7 – there is every possibility that these 7 games could be mid-range games that are not going to appeal to the majority of the PlayStation 4 fan base. But I am still hoping for the best – Does Sony have at least that one big AAA game announcement to make Paris Games Week 2017 event a worth for PlayStation fans? We will surely find out on this coming Monday – October 30.
