Pokémon Go is adding another buddy Pokémon that evolves

Pokémon Go will soon be getting another “buddy” Pokémon that you can evolve simply by walking around in the world with. If you get a lot of exercise with Pokémon Go running, this will probably be big news.

Revealed via the Pokémon Go support page, you’ll soon be able to walk around with the Pokémon Feebas set as a “buddy” if you want to evolve it into Milotic eventually. There are a select few Pokémon that evolve in this manner, so this is a pretty interesting development. Feebas is special in that it typically requires you to raise its “Beauty” stat before it can evolve into Milotic (for good reason, it’s butt-ugly) so this makes sense.

Feebas joins Pokémon like Eevee, which you still have to walk 10 KM before you can get it to evolve into Espeon or Umbreon. There’s no rhyme or reason when it comes to Niantic’s selection of which Pokémon will require additional attention, as it doesn’t correlate with the actual games, so there’s no real reason it seems that Feebas should be a new buddy.

Previously, dataminers were able to uncover that Pokémon Go’s GAME_MASTER file contained information that Feebas would need 100 candies for its evolution into Milotic. It looks like there will be a lot of hard work required to get your hands on the Pokémon, so when it hits the game, get ready to marathon play to rack up everything you need. Shouldn’t be too hard, right?
